Per Par Caring for seniors pets and special needs pets I'm asked on a regular basis who I recommend for Veterinarian care and in-home euthanasia services. Today I'll be chatting about the In-Home Euthanasia Services I recommend. Here are my top three choices for the best local options for the hardest decision we as Pet Parents will ever make. How to plan and schedule the last journey for them, the end of life services. Today is one of those really rough days saying good-bye to one of our oldest pups, 16 yr old Ziggy. In this day and age of COVID, In-Home Euthanasia services and end-of-life decisions require planning ahead, way ahead! Services were set up last week when it was clear his little body wasn't going to get better. At 11:11 this morning Ziggy crossed the Rainbow Bridge surrounded by loving family and pack pals. While I know he is pain free and romping at the Bridge, my tears are flowing and my heart feels the loss for his loved ones who rescued him as a puppy. It has been an honor and a privilege to care for Ziggy in life and a comfort to know he will be humanely and respectfully cared for in his burial preparations.
Did you know that at home euthanasia vs. In Office services is neck and neck in pricing ? Don't assume going to the Vet is cheaper, in many and most cases the pricing is equal or higher than in-home euthanasia. It's all about managing the unimaginable. The costs and the loss used to be hard to reckon with but I would encourage everyone to ask because if the difference is less than $100 difference wouldn't you want to be at home with your fur baby?
To say Good-Bye to our fur babies, our life companions is a huge emotional hit if not one of the hardest acts of love we will ever be asked to do! Navigating the resource options can be overwhelming. There is plenty of research proving we are bonded to our fur kids, sometimes more than our human family members in life. I do believe our heart connections are very strong, the bonds very real and the loss of them in our day to day lives is mournful.
How do you prepare yourself and your family ahead of time and when to 'know' when to make that call for in-home euthanasia services?
Our care support mantra around here is one of compassion that goes like this: 'No Pain, No Suffering' for my selfish desires to keep you here. What's best for the Paws is to live and love with ease as nature intended. When the quality of life is gone, the sundowners has set in on the seniors, the inability to get up/down without pain is gone and bladder control is gone it's time to do the humane thing and make the call. Please note the various signs of 'pain' in a dog or cat. How do you know they're uncomfortable?
Signs of Pain In Dogs: Shaking, flattened ears, grumpiness, panting, can't get up...
Signs of Pain In Cats: head lowered, eyes closed, hiding, change/loss of appetite, growling, groaning.
When to call these days means 4-5 days before it's absolutely unbearable for your fur baby! Many are surprised that you can not make a same day service appointment. There are NO SAME DAY SERVICE Appts around here these days. This too, adds to the stress of the decision making. Many Pet Parents are thinking it's cheaper to go to the Vet. Not so fast, that is no longer the case. You have competitive pricing which makes sharing your last moments together at home a real option!
There are three local In-Home Euthanasia Service companies in the San Diego and North County area I highly recommend for exceptional life transition services for your beloved fur baby and the after care services they provide. Loving Hands at-home Euthanasia, Paws into Grace and Peaceful Waters Aquamation aftercare services .
If you have any questions about holistic pet care services for your senior and special needs pets please feel free to reach out to me. I am not affiliated with any of the companies mentioned above so my recommendations are based on services I've witnessed and researched myself. I am grateful for the few options we have in these companies who pride themselves in delivering truly kind, compassionate in-home care and aftercare service in San Diego and North County. Comfort and Care are delivered to help you navigate the loss of your beloved fur family member..

We've be juggling so many challenges throughout the shut-down but the latest gas price hikes have been the hardest to deal with. A virus cycles out (eventually) but the loss of of supply chain workers and the increasing demand to open up leaves us with the harsh reality that there is a cost we can't ignore and must embrace.
Effective immediately new fuel surcharges will be added to the services to help keep us going. Instead of increasing each service rate we've added a fuel surcharge of $5.00 to your daily visit or a $7.00 surcharge when multiple visits a day are needed.
We appreciate you entrusting us with your fur family members and look forward to weathering the inflationary challenges in front of us.

Hello and thank you for stopping by today!.
Do you have a Dog that pulls on the leash leaving you wondering who's walking who?
Over the last 15 years I have used almost every collar/harness type out there. My conclusion is we're going about this all wrong! Leashing a lead to a neck collar is a recipe for disaster not only causing neck injury to your Dog. but making sure they can't slide out of their gear when spooked is paramount.
Today I'm going to demonstrate the Harness Lead Leash to help you and your Dog have an amazing walk and reduce the pulling offering you the escape proof peace of mind for a win/win for you and your Dog.
Watch Coco as she get's into a 'listening' rhythm to both my commands and her own body responses to the torso compression and relaxation of the harness lead leash .
If you have a big breed or a small bread that tugs you along feel free to contact me for one-on-one training tips and solutions to help you walk with your Dog with ease and enjoyment.
Big Max, 13 years young has his good days and not so good days. His aging dog care has us slowing down the activity but not stopping! We are aware his hearing isn't so good and his eye sight has become cloudy so we approach slowly, move slowly and stay in front of him so he doesn't get startled. His tail doesn't miss a beat but those joints and agility are a bit slow these day. Slower to get up, slower to lay down and not as quick to catch the ball in his mouth.
I'm going to share a few tips and dietary modifications for you to consider from my favorite Integrative Vet, Dr. Andrew Jones, to help you modify your aging Dog's lifestyle to enhance their mobility, agility, digestion and cognitive pliability .I've incorporated these tips and modifications for my own pups and my clients and have had wonderful outcomes that enhanced their joy with a high quality, species appropriate dietary changes, beneficial supplements, cold laser therapy andhomeopathic remedies and Flower Essence therapies.
If you would like to chat about best practices for your aging, senior Dog feel free to txt me, or DM me on Instagram @pawtailspetcare

Is Pet Care an Essential Service?
I'm asking our community to support us in a new way today. We are all overwhelmed by the COVID19 Pandemic. Can you see our services as an essential support for our Paw Parents/Medical Professionals and Workers? These Paw Parents need us more than ever!
We are called upon to gear up in protective gear, to do our part to safely walk, feed and snuggle the Fur family as an Essential Service Provider during this 'shelter in place order'. We all want to help those on the front lines during this COVID19 Pandemic.
Pawtails is responding daily to the calls for help to care for their Fur Kids! Our hearts go out to our MD's, and Nurses in a big way.
NOTE: We practice Physical Distancing, Protective Hygiene Protocols and wear protective gear. We touch no surface without a thorough wipe down before and after touching of anything such as door knobs, counters, leashes, harnesses or food bowls to help minimize bringing the virus into the home.
Doing our part so they can do theirs.
If you would like to help us continue to be of service you can donate to our business today at the gofundme page, https://www.gofundme.com/f/pet-care-essential-services…. Your one time donation or weekly donation will help us keep the lights on, buy the fuel and supplies to get where we are needed without interruption during this COVID19 pandemic.
Please know we appreciate your generous gifts today. Thank you in advance for helping us for the love of the Paw Parents and the Paws.
